金曜日です (It's Friday)

I am pretty much uber excited because today is Friday and there is a whole bunch of fun stuff going down tonight. I'll be sure to update after stuff happens. I love Fridays and I love the Kanji for Friday (金曜日).
And what can make Fridays even better, why a little N'Sync of course!

Krumping

Last week, I'm not exactly sure how it came about but, my roommate, a friend and I decided to do some krumping. Well in case you don't know what it is here is a video of Lil C...
We found a tutorial thing online and some angry music and just sort of went for it. It was pretty much the most hilarious thing ever, oh man. If I ever have any pent up aggression this is how i'm gonna get it out. My only problem is that I can't keep a strait face while doing it.
Well if you ever feel like krumping just remember your battle stance (you wouldn't want to look weak now?)

Positive Vibrations

Ok I know that it has been a while. Well the reason for that is I just started college and have been very busy, but I think that I can finally get back into the swing of blogging. I will start with today!
Pretty much today was an extremely good day, and not for any particular reason. I woke up this morning and was like, wow today is going to be a really good day. Nothing particularly special happened, it was basically an ordinary day, except for the extremely god vibes I was carrying around with me all day long!
All my classes went well... I found out I did well on my art history mid term... I bought a new coffee mug (cuz my other two broke) I had coffee and twizzler bites (they always make me feel good)... My speaking in Japanese was better then usual (I'm taking Japanese now!). I had a relaxing afternoon when I got out of class. I had a pleasant dinner with my friends (and it was really really good! I love the food here so much!). This evening I sat in the art building with my new fountain pen and drew, then I went to break dancing. At break dancing I was able to do a whole bunch of new moves which I am uber excited about (even though I hurt all over now). I walked back to my dorm listening to my new favorite band (Orange Range) and because it was late no one was out so I pretty much danced my way home... and now I am blogging which I haven't done in a really long time. All the while, even now, I feel really really happy, even though I still have homework to do. I don't know what it is but I hope this continues for a few days!
well then I feel like I should leave you with a taste of part of what is making me so happy!

College!!

Ok so I know that it has been a long time since my last post. However I will now continue to blog somewhat regularly again, the only difference being that I no longer have a camera so there will be lass picture (but I'm working on getting one *Christmas gift anyone*)
Anyways...
I have now started college!
I have my first class in about half an hour. I am so incredibly excited. The first days here have been great. I pretty much love it.
I have decided to tackle something completely new in college...
Japanese.
I am really excited but I have a feeling that it is going to be really hard.
I can almost make it around campus without getting lost, which is alot better then when I first got here I must say.
But all in all I am in love with St.Olaf college.
All the people I have meet so far are really nice, and my dorm room has the most amazing view!
I will have to figure out some way to get pictures because it is just so amazingly beautiful here.

Laptop Case

I just finished making myself a laptop case. All the laptop cases that they sell in stores for my size of laptop are boring and ugly. I just couldn't find one I liked, so I made myself one. I wasn't as hard as I expected it to be. I used a cute flower fabric for the outside, a heavier blue for the inside and two layers of fusible fleece for the padding. I also decided to embroider an owl, from an set of owl embroidery patterns that my mom has, and applique it on the front. My laptop fits nice and snug inside its new home!
I also made myself a matching pouch for my power cord. These pouches are really fun for me to make. they take almost no time at all to whip up. I'm gonna try to make a new batch of them tomorrow to sell. I only have one in my etsy shop now because one of them sold last week. I only hope that I will have time to sew tomorrow, seeing as it is my last day in Washington before I leave for Minnesota and college in the fall (yikes!) I am very happy with my little creations and slightly surprised that I got it all done today.

My Newest Creations

When I went to Fremont I bought this adorable tin lunchbox at the Fremont market and turned it into my embroidery box.
This comes into handy so much. I hand embroider all of my tags for my bags, so I really needed somewhere to keep all of my supplies and projects. this makes it so easy and it is nice and portable.

I spent about an entire day last week painting one of my old polo shirts. I have way too many polos in my wardrobe and figured it would spice things up a bit if I had a cute enchanted painted polo.

This is the skirt I made to wear to the Fremont market because we had been getting some really hot weather here which is very uncharacteristic of our weather here. I used a pattern that I have, but then I didn't like how it turned out so I ended up changing it quite a bit and now it doesn't look much like the pattern, but I think I like it better this way.
Then I felt like making another so I made this one, I didn't use a pattern for this one, I kinda just winged it.

A Fremont Adventure

Yesterday My friend and I decided to go to the Fremont market, which was easier said then done.
First off neither of us drive, so we took the bus. Beforehand I did the whole online trip planner that the community transit website has. Well as it turned out the instructions it gave us didn't work. We got on the right bus, and it took us into Seattle like it was supposed to, but it didn't stop at the stop we were supposed to get off on. In fact both the street that the stop was on and our next bus appeared to be nonexistent. They weren't on any maps or bus routs, this lead to the beginning of our adventure.

Our adventure began with us somehow being in the international district. Not entirely sure how that happened, but at least we weren't lost somewhere boring.

Luckily for us there is a transit center in the international district!
(note: in the picture the skirt I made myself a few days ago)

However we still had no idea what bus to take since the bus we thought we were supposed to take was nowhere to be found.

But alas we found a bus that took us to Fremont!!!

Now why couldn't the Internet instructions have told us to take that bus in the first place?

We finally made it to the market!!
You have no idea how happy we were.

And Evidently it was Lance's birthday.
(no, we have no idea who Lance is)
We had a great time walking around the market. There was a lady selling bags there who I had just seen on Saturday at the Edmonds market, she was really nice and had the cutest messenger bags I have ever seen! Here is her website http://laarniandtita.com/ . She was very happy to discover that I had made my skirt.
When we got to the market we were hungry so food was first on the to do list. I had the best falafel I think I have ever had! Oh man it was amazing!!
I also walked away from the market with an adorable enchanted tin lunch box and an Ebony&Ivory 45. I took my friend to all my favorite vintage stores.
And we visited our good friend Lenin

Conveniently Fremont has directions, so we didn't get lost a second time.

We also visited our other friend, the Fremont Troll.
Then we walked down by the lake and on the way I couldn't resist this shot of the underside of the overpass.

After all that excitement we still managed to make it home safe and sound. (the trip back was alot easier as we didn't use the Internet instructions)

Sketchbook drawings and an Alice update

I have another round of sketchbook drawings from one of my old sketchbooks. One of my favorite things to do is go back and look at my old drawings.

Ok you can imagine how excited I was when this came out. I went screaming running through the hall of my house wailing my arms in the air. Pretty much the trailer is out!!!! YAY!
(I couldn't find a video that I could put on here but it is out there I promise!)

My Shop

I finally got my Etsy shop up and running and I am so excited!!!
Everyone should go and check it out!!
These are some of my favorite items that I have listed:

This green striped one is a laptop cord pouch.

Alice!

I started out the Summer reading the Dali autobiography (and I'm still reading it) but then I got into my Alice phase and realized that it had been a very long time since I have actually read Alice in Wonderland and I don't think I ever read Through the Looking Glass all the way through. Now I am actually sitting down and reading it cover to cover, and it is better then I remembered!! Pretty much I am such in wonderland. Now I find myself sketching the mad Hatter when I usually sketch mushroom houses, and a bag I was painting turned into a crazy Alice in wonderland bag. I have even had a few dreams about wonderland, and I am wearing out my Disney's Alice in Wonderland VHS (even thought it is quite different from the book). Oh how I love wonderland!

My little birthday adventure

I know this is a little after the fact but I didn't have Internet for a while because we moved. Anyways my 18th birthday was a while ago and this was the first year that I didn't have some sort of birthday party, instead My mom sisters and I went to Fremont and Ballard.
Our first stop in Fremont was one of my favorite shops. Its the Deluxe Junk store and it has all this awesome stuff, some of it completely random but completely awesome at the same times. They had so many cool vintage cases when we went there this time.
Also in Fremont we went to one of my favorite vintage clothing stores, Private Screening, I think was the name of it, they have all this incredible vintage clothing, its one of those places that just kills me walking into without any money. Then we went to the vintage mall, where I bought this dress.
ok so the dress itself is pretty ugly but the fabric was irresistible (and I have now made a really cute bag out of it!)

Then we headed off to Ballard; we were so hungry that the first thing we did was go to my favorite burger place.

This place has seriously good burgers and an amazing french fry sauce!

usually when we are in Ballard we stop at Cupcake Royal for desert but this time we were just too full from lunch.
Then it was off to more shops. first we stopped in one of my mom's favorites.
Then one of mine. This little gift store has a little section in the back that is full of gnome and mushroom things, I go in there and never want to leave.

Then we hunted down a rescued furniture store that my mom really wanted to go to. When we got there a Bowie song was playing inside on the radio and so I felt pretty good being in a store named after one of my favorite Bowie songs while a Bowie song was playing.

We then went to Venue where as it turned out you get a free chocolate on your birthday so I got a Thai tea chocolate and bought two gnome postcards. The lady in the shop takes her gnome places and takes pictures of him and puts them on postcards, t-shirts and sweatshirts. Now I really want to do that with Rutherford.

Along with all the shop going we also bumped into the man who did my hair when I still lived in Minneapolis, which was really weird, he now owns a few salons and moved to Seattle. its funnie how thing like that happen.
Well all in all I think that I had a pretty god 18th Birthday even though I didn't end up having a big party.

My curent read

My book came the other day and I just started reading it last night. I have only read the first few pages but I can already tell that I am going to enjoy this so very much. I am reading the Secret Life of Salvador Dali by Salvador Dali. Already he has gone into how much of a genius he is. Only Dali can think that much of himself and get away with it. If I had to pick one person who died within the last 50 years to have a conversation with it would be him.
