Newest Creations

I have finally been able to release some of the artistic energy I have built up. The one downside of college is that I have less time for art. However at the end of this school year I got to make tea bowls for my Arts of Japan class. I hand built two tea bowls. I had never really dealt with clay before so this was new for me. My favorite part was glazing. I hadn't painted in a while so it felt so good to have a brush back in my hand.

This is my first one. I was really happy that the inside and part of the outside turned out really red. On the front I painted a tree and on the back I put the Japanese character for heart 心。

On my second bowl I painted a branch on the outside and 心 inside.

Yesterday I broke out all of my paints at home and made this plaque. The character is sakura (cherry blossom). I also did another painting but I'm not quite sure if it is finished yet.

This one I decided to sign in Japanese.
